Student support

A student sits on the floor and hugs a therapy dog.
At the UMSI De-Stress Fest, students celebrate the last day of class, get psyched up for finals and have a little fun with food, yoga, arts and crafts and therapy dogs.

UMSI strives to support you throughout your time at UMSI. We offer resources to help you de-stress, learn how to fund your degree, develop your academic skills, and more.

Programming and events

UMSI's Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA) hosts monthly academic success programming including the Lunch and Learn series and the bi-annual De-Stress Fest. These free events bring in campus partners and members of the UMSI community to present on topics ranging from holistic wellness to academic skills development. OASA academic success programming is open to all UMSI students.

UMSI Peer-to-Peer Tutor List-serve

UMSI’s OASA hosts a comprehensive list of students interested in providing peer-to-peer tutoring. The list features current students in good academic standing who want to help their fellow UMSI community members.

Financial Aid, Academic Skills Development and Accommodation Support staff member

UMSI’s OASA employs a staff member to offer students advising about funding, help locating support resources on campus, and accommodation support. Our Academic Programs Coordinator George Sprague (wsprague@umich.edu) helps students navigate the resources available to them at the University of Michigan.
